I have been waiting for this all weekend--and it is safe to say, the wait is worth it...

Reading this Saturday when it was raining outside, in a house that was not mine, from a book that I found on a shelf--I read:
"The health of a democracy is always threatened by mediocrity. In the sphere of education there must be good school of varying kinds and among them must be secondary schools of exceptional quality, dedicated to humanistic principles, for those children who have the will and capacity to make the best use of them. In short, for a society to flourish, it must be continuously invigorated by an aristocracy of character and ability. Some men of creativity will arise without benefit of formal schooling, but if our society is to produce in the future men similar in stature to the original shapers of our country, it will be because there are institutions, public or private, schools as well as colleges, which cultivate the kind of soil in which such plants can grow."

So thank you for being anything but mediocre.
